The main concept is how response-based strategies are used to shape and maintain learning, focusing on reinforcement and error correction. Reinforcement strengthens a desired response by following it with a consequence: positive reinforcement adds something preferred, like praise or a small reward, while negative reinforcement removes an aversive condition to increase the likelihood the behavior will occur again. Error correction guides correct responding when a mistake happens—immediate feedback, modeling the correct answer, and providing prompts or guided practice, followed by another chance to respond correctly. This combination supports acquiring accurate responses and keeping learning on track. Other options describe different ideas (like reducing behavior, broader stimulus effects, or building complex skills through sequencing) and aren’t the two response-focused strategies highlighted here.
